Ultimate Niche Website SEO Strategy

UPDATE: SEO Strategy has changed through the years and although some of the tactics below work, I cannot approve the methodology anymore. I have however updated the Ultimate Niche Website Strategy here. Please read so you can continue your journey to build a Niche Website Empire!

Hopefully at this point you have some content on your website because now we are going to start getting your Niche Site some traffic with the Ultimate Niche Website SEO Strategy.  I should preface this with the fact that I have read a lot about SEO strategies and these are mixtures of other strategies I have read about.  That being said, this strategy works extremely well.  Ultimately this step requires the most persistence on your part.  Likely, unless you have an exact match domain name, this will take time.  However, it works time and time again as long as you have excellent keyword optimized content.

Niche Site SEO Strategy

In SEO Basics we discussed some of the important features of a good SEO strategy in general but with particular focus on the content itself.  However, I did mention backlinks.  This strategy will help you build natural and strong backlinks to your website so that you can start to rank for your Niche Keyword Phrases.  The more competitive the term, the longer it will take.

Primary Links

Primary Links are links that point directly at Your Niche Site.  In addition, they need to have the proper anchor text.  Here is an example of anchor text: Pet Training.  Notice the actual link takes you to PetsMart but the link itself says Pet Training.  The reason you use anchor text is because it signals to the search engines that the link must be about “Pet Training.”

Secondary Links

Secondary Links are links that point directly at Your Primary Links.  You will use the same anchor text but will make sure the link points to the given Primary Link.

Forum Post Links

Now, some argue that forum links do not matter however I get a significant amount of traffic from some forums I have posted in.  That being said, find some forums that discuss your Niche Topic.  Write a meaningful post in the forum with a link to Your Niche Site with the Anchor Text.  Don’t spam, just provide a valuable resource for the other people on the forum.

Blog Comments

Once again, these might not be viewed as the best links and many are no-follow meaning Google does not recognize it as a backlink.  Do a Google Search for Do Follow Blogs SEO.  You will find a list.  Read some of the articles and feel free to make an excellent comment.  Include a link to Your Niche Site with the Anchor Text.

This is just a general overview of the terms I will be using, however you should be consistently doing the bottom two at all times while you are trying to rank your website.  Some will provide excellent backlinks while others will not; however most will provide you with some extra traffic.  Remember, because you are writing on a specific Niche you should attempt to get involved with the online community within that Niche.  Now to the Primary and Secondary Link Strategy!

Primary Links

As mentioned before, Primary Links link Directly to YOUR NICHE SITE.  Use the Anchor Text for the Keyword you want to rank for such as “Pet Training.”  In addition, you should find an initial secondary keyword as well such as “Pet Training Tools”.  Now you have TWO different Keywords you are trying to rank for in the search engines.  Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Write an Original Useful and Meaningful Article

Here you need to write something useful that will NOT be placed on your Niche Site.  It should be at least 400 words and provide value to readers.

Step 2: Spin the Article

Article Spinning is an SEO tactic that many different reputable companies and individuals use.  Basically what it does is it allows you to write one article but spin it into 100 different versions that all appear different to search engines but actually discuss the exact same topic.  Some people believe Article Spinning is bad.  I believe it can be bad.  However, if you are writing something meaningful then what is the problem with spreading the word as much as possible.  Nothing!  If people are looking for what you are answering then people will find it in 100 different ways which is why you Spin the Article.

Basically, after writing 1 Useful Article, you now have 100 different versions.

How do you spin articles? Well I do have a few options.  Some people try to get you to pay for article spinners however there are hundreds available online for free.

Free Article Spinner

I would suggest this for now unless you can find something better.  All you do is sign up and get started.  Paste your Article from Step 1 into the box when you are signed in and press “Rewrite Article Now”.  Caution:  This is a free article spinner and it does not always make sense when it is spun.  Therefore you should make sure you proofread each version.  You still want to provide value so have it make sense.  If it does makes sense and works well, which it should, copy the article and paste it into a Word Document for now.

Step 3:  Build Web Properties

This step will require some work.  Yes it takes a while but it is necessary.  Basically, what you are doing now is building other Highly Ranked websites that point Directly at Your Niche Site.  You will use the Article from Step 1, Spin it for each INDIVIDUAL Web Property and place TWO links Directly to Your Website.  Here is a list of Web Properties I use and you should too.

  • WordPress.com
  • Blogger.com
  • Squidoo – Make sure you add some additional text or they will not allow you to create one.  Must be unique!
  • HubPages – HubScores must be above 75, look at different methods to increase your score, the higher the better!
  • Weebly
  • Yola
  • WikiHow – Not really necessary but helps traffic in my opinion!
  • LiveJournal

Make sure you add two different spun versions to each of these, with the exception of Squidoo and Hubpages.  Also, add some videos and other tools just to make the websites look better.

Ultimately there are many more but normally I build a couple Different ones for each service.  Why use these?  What happens here is that when you build a WordPress.com Blog, the website will be PetTraining.Wordpress.com.  This provides you with TWO backlinks from a reputable website.  If you do that for each of these sites, with different Spun Articles from the ONE Article in Step 1, you will have at least 16 links from 8 different websites with 8 different pieces of content with all the same topic which in my example would be Pet Training.  See the graphic below for a visual representation.

Step 4: Article Directors

In this step you will continue to spin different versions from the ONE Article in Step 1 and post them in Article Directors.  Often you can include multiple links in Article Directories.  Some may only be in the signature while others can be in the body of the article or the actual content.  These will Link DIRECTLY to Your Niche Site and would be considered Primary Links.  Here are some places where you can submit articles although there are countless others.

I typically will initially create 50 to 100 spun articles in these three different services over the course of a month.  I do use other article directories and there are paid tools you can use, but on a shoestring budget, this will work.  Ezine is by far the best but the articles have to be a bit more unique than the others because someone reviews them.

Make sure you maintain links to all the articles you have posted.  I would create a separate bookmark folder with just articles in them.  The same goes for the Web Properties.  Organization is very important at this stage.

Step 5: Social Bookmarking

Next, you will post ALL of the links above to Social Bookmarking websites.  Here is a list of Bookmarking Sites such as Twitter and Digg.  This does require you to sign up for each service however it really helps getting your content out there and can provide some valuable backlinks if it gets spread around in a social way.

Social Poster is a free tool which will help you with the process.  It still requires you to sign up for each of them, however it does streamline the process.  There are paid versions available; however I only use the unpaid ones for now.  Just do a Google Search and you will see a bunch.

Social Monkee is a Paid tool which will make this process go much faster.  Social Monkee lets you quickly and easily create 25 FREE backlinks every day.  Over a period of a month this adds up to over 750 backlinks – all for free. If you upgrade to the premium version this number increases to 9,000 backlinks every month, for life!  However, I am an Elite Member.  With a Social Monkee Elite account you will have the ability to get 150 backlinks 3 times daily, Auto-Pinging of your backlinks, and the ability to schedule Up to 45 Submissions at once. That’s up to 2 weeks worth of daily submissions!  This has drastically increased my page rank in ALL of my sites and I consider it an absolute necessity. In addition, if you go Elite, you will skip step 6 below because it does it for you.

Step 6: Ping Everything

Pinging allows search engines to know that content has changed and they crawl the individual sites for more information.  I do this if I add articles to my Web Properties and for any Articles that I submit to directories.  Although not necessary, it does speed the process up.  If you use Pingomatic, you can simply put in the RSS feed for your Web Properties and it will automatically Ping them!

Alright, now we have built a strong ring of Backlink Power around Your Niche Site.  You can continue this process and build more and more different Web Properties and Article Submissions.  In fact, I suggest always doing the article submissions while you are trying to rank.  The Web Properties are excellent tools but should be used in a smart way.  Do not create 100 different Squidoo pages though.  Five to Ten for each will be fine though.  Next, we need to get the SEO juices going.  See the image below for a visual of your Primary Links strategy.

Secondary Links

Secondary Links are Links that point Directly to Your PRIMARY LINKS.  In my opinion, you can build as many as you want.  Why?  Well Squidoo for example gets thousands of backlinks per day, therefore when you add link after link over time, search engines will not view it as weird.  However, if you started submitting 50 links a day to YOUR NICHE SITE DIRECTLY, something would be off and the search engines would notice.  The process is similar to above, however the Link will point to the various Primary Links, minus the social bookmarking.

Step 1: Write a NEW Original Useful and Meaningful Article

Here you need to write something useful that will NOT be placed on your Niche Site.  It should be at least 400 words and provide value to readers.

Step 2: Spin the Article

Step 3:  Build Web Properties

You will use the Article from Step 1, Spin it for each INDIVIDUAL Web Property and place TWO links Directly to Primary Links.

Now you have an outer web of Secondary Web Properties pointing to you Primary Web Properties.

Step 4: Article Directors

In this step you will continue to spin different versions from the ONE Article in Step 1 and post them in Article Directors.  Often you can include multiple links in Article Directories.  Some may only be in the signature while others can be in the body of the article or the actual content.  These will Link DIRECTLY to Your PRIMARY LINKS and would be considered Primary Links.  Here are some places where you can submit articles although there are countless others.

Feel free to submit as much as you can at a given time.

Social Poster – Free

Social Monkee – Paid

Step 6: Ping Everything

Pinging allows search engines to know that content has changed and they crawl the individual sites for more information.  I do this if I add articles to my Web Properties and for any Articles that I submit to directories.  Although not necessary, it does speed the process up.  If you use Pingomatic, you can simply put in the RSS feed for your Web Properties and it will automatically Ping them!

Here is a graphical representation of what you have done:

Alright, so now you have built this huge SEO web.  What do you do now?  Continue with the Secondary Link process until you rank your website.  Bear in mind there are many different Paid Services that speed up this process.  I am currently in between services that I use and will be suggesting a few soon.  However, you should be aware that my first few sites were created this way.  They are working fine now.  Yes it does take longer but I am reaping the benefits now and you will too!

As for Keywords in the Anchor Text, I do vary them.  Meaning we began with TWO different keywords but I normally create a framework of 10 or 20.  This does not mean you have to create separate Web Properties for each, although you can, but it does mean that article submissions should vary the Anchor Text.  Remember, natural is key!

Also, I would constantly continue to perform forum posts and blog comments.  You really want to build a natural framework of links and doing that will create links from many different sources.  This Free Tool will perform a search to find blogs where you can comment.  Additionally you can simply search for do-follow blogs.

This is ALL you need for now to begin creating excellent Niche Websites.  I do want to add a few more posts discussing Long Tail Keywords, Seeing Your Progress, and Maintaining Your Position; however you really do have all the tools to succeed now!  Hopefully you will continue reading my blog as I am wanting to share my own experiences and updates in my own progress, as well as learn from everyone else.  See you soon!
